We welcome Milford Subaru to the Jake Kaplan Family! For over 65 years, Jake Kaplan’s has built a reputation on delivering a customer experience that is second to none. A family-owned operation, there is a blend of enjoyment and fun that typically radiates from our showrooms all the way from Rhode Island, through Massachusetts, and now up to Milford, NH.
Jake Kaplan founded the original dealership in the early 1940’s, with the first official opening of Foreign Cars Ltd. in 1952. Jake was a pioneer in automotive sales, and one of the only foreign car dealers in the United States at that time. In the U.S., American cars were all anyone knew or cared about. Jake worked with numerous manufacturers over the next few decades, with far too many to list. However, Jaguar was the one that sustained. In the 1980’s, Jake ditched everything else, and became one of the largest and most successful Jaguar dealers in the country. In 1988, Jake Kaplan’s LTD in Providence, R.I. decided to add Land Rover to bring another quality line of vehicles to his customers. Jake was one of the original 25 franchised dealerships when Land Rover first came to the United States. Jake’s daughter and protégé, Sheree Kaplan-Allen, grew up in the car business, working in different areas of the dealership and learning at Jake’s heel all of the knowledge and expertise her father had acquired in a lifetime.
When Jake passed, Sheree was there to find a way to continue the business her father had grown and in 1993, she became Dealer Principal of Jake Kaplan’s Jaguar /Land Rover. After years of success in Providence, Jake Kaplan’s moved to Bald Hill Rd. in Warwick, R.I. where Jake Kaplan’s continues to have a rock solid reputation in the state of Rhode Island. It is fair to say that Jake set in motion the principles and foundation this company is built upon, and Sheree has carried that forward to today.
In 2006, Sheree opened Jaguar / Land Rover Norwood, which is located right on the auto mile in Norwood, Ma. It did not take long for this dealership to flourish, and it only took four years to become New England’s largest Jaguar and largest Land Rover dealer in New England. Jake Kaplan’s Norwood is now one of the largest Land Rover dealers in the country, and has completely changed the dynamics of these two brands in the Massachusetts area.
As the Kaplan Auto Group has continued to grow and expand, the third generation has become an important part of our business. Eddy Allen, Sheree’s son, has been ingrained in the business since he was an infant. For the last three years, Eddy has been working primarily out of the Norwood location. With firsthand experience in service, parts, and sales, Eddy recently moved into the position of Pre-Owned Manager of Jaguar/ Land Rover Norwood. Eddy has done a great job helping Norwood grow, making this dealership now one of the largest Certified Pre-Owned Jaguar & Land Rover dealerships in the North East. Eddy learned from the best, and has watched his mother navigate through the car business for 30 years. For Sheree and Eddy, bringing the right vehicle to each customer is what they love doing.
