Comparing the 2022 Subaru Outback to the 2022 Honda CR-V

The Subaru Outback is one of the top crossovers from this brand and a popular choice on the roads or on the trails. To between show you all that this SUV can do, we compared it against another well-known competitor in several key areas. Let us share with you our findings about how the 2022 Outback takes on the 2022 Honda CR-V. You will find the latest Subaru Outback available for sale or lease at Milford Subaru.

MSRP and Price Differences

While the entry trim of the Subaru Outback starts out slightly higher than that of the Honda CR-V, a key advantage the Outback has is standard Symmetrical AWD. The Honda CR-V comes standard with two-wheel-drive and its available all-wheel-drive system costs over $1,000 more at the base trim level. While AWD is available on all trims of the CR-V, each trim that carries it costs extra than their 2WD counterparts.

Performance

At their base trim levels, the Honda CR-V has an advantage over the Outback in terms of performance, with a turbocharged engine that generates slightly more horsepower and torque. However, this is the only engine available on the CR-V, whereas shoppers who want to enjoy more performance on the Outback can select available Onyx Edition trims that have a 260-horsepower engine. The Outback has a greater towing capacity no matter which trim you choose, with its base trims towing up to 2,700 lbs. and the available turbo engine increasing it to 3,500 lbs. All CR-V trims are capable of towing only 1,500 lbs.

Interior

The Outback's big advantage comes in its standard exterior features, including raised roof rails with integrated crossbars, which can convert the roof into a fully-functional rack capable of carrying up to 150 lbs. as well as LED Steering-Responsive Headlights (SRH). The Outback also comes available with a windshield wiper de-icer as part of the all-weather package. Roof racks and LED headlights cost extra on the CR-V, while a windshield wiper de-icing feature is wholly unavailable.

Exterior

On the inside, the Outback contains a spacious interior for all five passengers to stretch out and feel comfortable in on a long-distance road trip. This crossover contains 109 cubic feet of passenger volume, which only decreases to 105.6 cubic feet with the addition of the available power sunroof. Meanwhile the Honda CR-V starts out with a passenger volume of 105.9 cubic feet and its available sunroof reduces this capacity to 102.9 cubic feet.

If you're looking for the more versatile and capable crossover, with more available features and lots of comfort, for a much lower price, then the Subaru Outback is the SUV for you. We invite you to visit Milford Subaru today to learn more and take this crossover for a test drive. We hope to see you soon!
