Performance
Despite its sizable dimensions, the new Ascent Onyx edition is motivated by a potent 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER, delivering 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque to the wheels by way of Subaru's responsive Lineartronic® transmission. And when properly equipped, the Ascent can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Of course, the Ascent Onyx Edition isn't limited to the confines of the asphalt. Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system provides sure-footed handling in inclement driving conditions. This capability is further enhanced by standard X-MODE traction management, which automatically adjusts throttle response, transmission ratio, AWD, and Vehicle Dynamics Control to minimize wheelspin and optimize grip.
Exterior and Interior Features
The Ascent Onyx Edition enhances the SUVs assertive style with black-finish exterior trim pieces and accents. Alterations include sleek, gloss-black-finished 20-inch alloy wheels, a unique Onyx Edition black front grille, and Crystal Black Silica finish on the side mirrors and roof spoiler.
The dark theme continues into the refined and interior, where you'll find high-quality materials including gloss-black and carbon-fiber-patterned trim pieces, a tailored dash with accent stitching, Onyx Edition carpeted floor mats, and well-bolstered upholstered in water-repelling StarTex upholstery. The Onyx Edition also adds equipment upgrades, like a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and a power liftgate.
The Ascent Onyx Edition comes standard with second-row captain's chairs, offering roomy seating for seven, with nearly 18 cubic feet to spare for your luggage or groceries. And when you need to prioritize cargo space for your errands or adventures, the third and second rows fold easily to provide up to 47.5 and 86.5 cubic feet, respectively.
Technology and Safety
The Ascent Onyx Edition's infotainment functions are handled by Subaru's intuitive STARLINK® Multimedia Plus system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto seamlessly integrate your compatible smartphone with the 8.0-inch central touchscreen, providing easy access to features like maps and directions, streaming media, and hands-free calls and messages.
